Hello,

As mentioned in https://github.com/nnstreamer/nnstreamer/issues/3614 , we are planning a local event for contributors and users.

Note: the schedule may be updated if COVID-19 regulations are updated.

Date: 2022.02.16 (Wed)

Place: Samsung Research (56, Seongchon-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul / http://naver.me/GC2uSp79 ), I'll try to reserve a large room for the "conference".

Time:

  • Proposal 1: Starts around at 3pm, KST
  • Proposal 2: Starts around at 6:30pm, KST
  • (Vote in the github issue)

It's going to be a local event for face-to-face discussions in Korean. However, we will try to broadcast & record it via Zoom, Google Meet, or YouTube. We will announce again if it's decided.

Sessions will be

  • Lightning Talks (5~10 min per each), introducing participants NNStreamer applications and pipelines.
  • 2022-2024 Roadmap (20 min) and user feedbacks (20 min)
  • Free Discussions & QnA.

Three local companies (except Samsung) and two university labs have expressed interest so far.

Participants may bring their applications & usage scenarios and discuss how to solve them with NNStreamer.

In this conference, NNStreamer maintainer and committers will present for discussions.

.

Cheers,

MyungJoo

NNStreamer to be appear in ICSE, again, in 2022!

MyungJoo Ham

Dear NNStreamer developers, users, and supporters!

Another paper of NNStreamer is being published at ICSE 2022. We've just got an acceptance notification from the ICSE committee. (ICSE SEIP Track)

If you attend ICSE 2022, you will be able to meet NNStreamer maintainers and discuss more conveniently!

-

After the publication in ICSE 2021:

  • NNStreamer: Efficient and Agile Development of On-Device AI Systems (NNStreamer as On-Device AI Framework)
  • LightSys: Lightweight and Efficient CI System for Improving Integration Speed of Software (NNStreamer's side project, "TAOS-CI")

Another paper discussing NNStreamer is to appear in ICSE 2022:

  • Toward Among-Device AI from On-Device AI with Stream Pipelines (NNStreamer evolving to Among-Device AI Framework)
    • MyungJoo Ham, Sangjung Woo, Jaeyun Jung, Wook Song, Gichan Jang, Yongjoo Ahn, and Hyuoung Joo Ahn

I'll add an Arxiv article with its preprint soon.

Cheers,

MyungJoo

ps. We are preparing a paper with yet another NNStreamer's side project, 'NNTrainer', too.

The first mass-produced device with NNStreamer released.

MyungJoo Ham

Dear NNStreamer developers and users,

The first mass-produced device with NNStreamer has been released to the market last week!

"Samsung Galaxy Watch 3" and OS updates (Tizen 5.5) for older models including "Galaxy Active 2" include NNStreamer and its applications as well.

As far as I know at this moment, "Smart Reply" application uses nnstreamer to generate replies.

We are working on more mass-produced devices right now and will be able to announce more devices and applications soon and a few of them may include on-device (re-)training support as well.

Cheers,

MyungJoo

Re: The First TSC Meeting Announcement

MyungJoo,

Reminder that a Group Calendar space has been set up for NNStreamer use and you are the moderator in Groups.io to manage it. The calendar along with links to the instructions are here: https://wiki.lfai.foundation/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=24281133

Regarding Zoom use, other providers have had or have many of the same issues, so it's not particular to just Zoom and there have been fixes over the past few weeks and we hope will continue. LF AI will continue to use Zoom as it is one of the better platforms for access from within China for our communities. One other item to note is that Zoom has a web client that doesn't require installing anything or users can join via phone dial in.

I would also recommend to start transitioning your TSC related messages to the nnstreamer-tsc and nnstreamer-technical-discuss mail lists as the nnstreamer-announce mail list should be reserved for top-level announcements (relevant to all audiences: business, marketing, legal, etc., not always technical).

Migrated to github.com/nnstreamer/nnstreamer

MyungJoo Ham

We have finally moved NNStreamer github repo from nnsuite to nnstreamer, the official LF/AI NNStreamer project organization.

Now, the NNStreamer github repository is https://github.com/nnstreamer/nnstreamer.git

Although GIthub.com forwards old addresses to the new addresses automatically, there will be outages in CI/CD systems for a few days.

Cheers,
MyungJoo

First Announcement from NNStreamer

MyungJoo Ham

Hi!

Thanks to LFAI staff and collaborators, NNStreamer is now joining LFAI.

As the first step, we are updating our source code to comply with LFAI's standard and migrating a few git repos from github.com/nnsuite to github.com/nnstreamer.

However, the main git repository, github.com/nnsuite/nnstreamer.git, and its essential CI/CD infrastructure, TAOS-CI, will be migrated a couple of weeks later because we are releasing nnstreamer-HEAD for new products, which I hope this week's version is the last RC, and we don't want to disrupt CI/CD processes.

Github.com's issues tab will be kept as the primary bug-reports/feature-discussion/progress-reports as they can easily refer to corresponding source codes and commits. I will discuss with other co-maintainers how we will use mailing lists while we keep Github issues.

Cheers!
MyungJoo
ps. Anyone who's interested in making stream pipelines with neural networks (processing stream data with neural networks), please visit github.com/nnsuite/nnstreamer (to be github.com/nnstreamer/nnstreamer soon)!
